Chuck Clay has a rich history combining experience in public service and private practice. Mr. Clay provides legal counsel, government and pubic affairs services for many of Georgia's leading organizations and businesses. His diverse background as a prosecutor, a legislator and community leader allows him to give comprehensive, expert advice on legal and public policy issues.
Mr. Clay has served in public office as an Assistant District Attorney, Cobb County Commissioner and State Senator, including serving as Senate Minority Leader, a position to which he was elected by his fellow State Senators. Mr. Clay emerged on the national scene as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Georgia during the George W. Bush 2000 campaign for President.
Clay is an AV rated lawyer, the highest ranking by his peers, and has extensive experience with complex commercial litigation. During his tenure in the Senate, Clay served on numerous key committees such as Appropriations, Banking, Judiciary, Insurance, Ethics, Education and Rules.
Leaders at all levels of government and business have called upon Mr. Clay for his guidance. Both the Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court and Governor have called on Clay to lead or be part of committees dealing with critical state issues. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University; the Foundation Board for Southern Polytechnic University; and the Board of Directors for the Vinings Bank.
Mr. Clay received his JD from the University of Georgia Law School, and his BA from the University of North Carolina.
Mr. Clay, his wife Sara and their five children, reside in Marietta, home to his strong family lineage which includes his great-grandfather, United States Senator Alexander Stephens Clay and his grandfather, World War II Commander, General Lucius D. Clay. |
